Reflections – Vision

“Vision without action is a daydream. Action with without vision is a nightmare.” Japanese proverb

Though we may dream of doing this or that whilst running here and there, often we are unable to spend even just a few moments of the day focusing our actions on our vision.

The sanctuary of our dreams may afford us respite from this daily grind. However, with our energy consumed, we may experience time slipping away as we move ever further from implementing those actions required to bring our vision to life.

When we are involved with projects, even preparing for a holiday for example, we work with a plan. We follow a detailed operating schedule and ensure each step or phase is undertaken in accordance with carefully created objectives.

Yet when it comes to life many act without a vision. Looking around we can see folk for whom life is, at best, lived as if a dream. For others life is a nightmare, something to be gotten through.

With a vision actions have a purpose, even if the path does not unfold completely in line with our dreams. Living life with the guidance of a vision is by no means essential, yet if we want to get the most out of our actions invariably they need that input of direction.

I appreciate this issue is vast; if you wish to participate in the conversation please leave a comment below. In the meantime, thanks for spending a few moments here today.

  1. Brain,
I love the quote and find it so true.
I’ve started to plan my life with goals for the next 5 years or so and it’s so much more reassuring. Having a plan means step are naturally created and decisions are easier to make. Time doesn’t seem to be wasted and I can go with the flow knowing that I’m not getting off track too much and can steer myself back quite easily.
Am interested to read what others are doing.
    Love
    Heather xx

    Hi Heather,
Belated thanks for sharing your input here. I agree completely, the presence of a long-term goal allows daily actions to be prioritized with the big picture in mind. Enjoying the journey of creating our life and eventually arriving at our chosen destination is a true win-win strategy.
    Hugs and thanks again.
    Brian.
