The benefits of stretching our legs, getting out and about, are known to most people. Indeed, the saying “A change is as good as a rest” contains enough truth for it to be quoted so often.
Yet as we are out and about, we might also experience a greater awareness of what we have left whilst connecting with new situations, habits and lifestyles.
Feeling comfortable in various environments may come from our capacity to be at ease with ourselves wherever we are. Experiencing different customs certainly enriches our time out and about. Tasting local delicacies, for example, is oftentimes a pleasurable part of being away from our usual surroundings.
That said, when we do get out and about it seems, at least to me, we can discover more similarities among people than differences. Possibly it all comes down to our attitude or openness as to which shade of green we perceive the grass to be.
As Antoine de Saint-Exupery put it: “The meaning of things lies not in the things themselves, but in our attitude towards them.”
