Having made the effort required to get us to our current position, it might be natural to keep our eyes focused on either where we are or where we are heading next.
From above we could, however, also choose to look back and reflect upon the path covered to date.
Recalling the mistakes, lessons learnt and support received whilst getting to where we are now helps keep us grounded in the reality of the moment.
From above hurdles overcome now seem tiny. In the words of the author G.K. Chesterton, “One sees great things from the valley, only small things from the peak.”
For those of us fortunate enough to travel by plane occasionally, the sight from above can be spectacular at times. This privileged view always makes me feel appreciative of those pioneers of flying whose efforts literally opened up the skies for us.
