Imposing building

An imposing presence need not just refer to a building. Of course certain locations are dominated by a particularly imposing building, whether famous at an international level or merely known locally.

Thinking about people around us, we may be able to bring to mind one or two people who can be said to have an imposing presence. Perhaps it is their physical being which dominates any room they enter.

Possibly we could be drawn to their intellect, their sense of humour or their loving kindness. Looking at it from the other side of the room so to speak, what is it we bring to the moment? To what extent are we creating an imposing presence right now?

In actual fact, it is really quite difficult for us to fully appreciate the impact we make on others. At times we might feel subdued and our quietness is perceived as an instance in which we are fully connected with everyone.

Alternatively, when we are ‘full of beans’ and ‘happy as Larry’ our imposing presence may actually be considered as being too much for others. However we look at the question, it is for people around us, rather than ourselves, to ultimately decide about our ‘imposing presence’.
