Who are we helping by doing this?

As we go about engaging in this and working on that, it can be helpful to hit the pause button to ask who are we helping by doing this?

Knowing the eventual recipient of our actions – and this could be ourselves – keeps us focused on the endeavour together with the desired outcome.

Only our attitude and effort towards the task are under our control, however. The result, and how it comes across to those on the receiving end, are beyond our direct means to manage.

By pondering ‘Who are we helping by doing this?’, we might even discover we are helping nobody specifically. It could be we have gotten caught up in the idea of ‘being busy’ and have taken on many tasks merely to keep the proverbial plates spinning.

Productivity, effectiveness and strategic steps are all different from running around trying to do everything for everyone. But once we have established the answer to the question ‘Who are we helping by doing this?’, we are in a position to recall our motivation for taking on the assignment in the first place.

So, using these remaining minutes together, let’s indeed reflect on the inquiry ‘Who are we helping by doing this?’ concerning the tasks you are dealing with today.

No need to send your answers on a postcard, a comment below is sufficient.

Kindest regards.
